Microsoft has unveiled the future interface and design of the Office software package. According to The Verge, the update is designed to improve the convenience of programs regardless of the device, as well as to focus the user's attention on the content.
The idea is to simplify the current ribbon interface, which is "sharpened" for desktop PCs, but inconvenient on tablets or smartphones. This will reduce the cognitive load on the user and allow him to focus on the task.
According to John Friedman, corporate vice president of design and research at Microsoft, some moments require a long constant concentration, while others - mobile — are optimal for microtasking.
Among other changes, we note an icon that will show which program is involved. Previously, applications differed in colors. There will also be a search and a command bar at the top.
The timing of the release of the update is not reported. But, according to Friedman, it will take at least a year or two.
