Microsoft officially requires for Windows 11:
- TPM
2.0
- Secure
Boot
- Intel 8th Gen / AMD Zen 2 or
newer CPU
But what if
your PC doesn't meet these requirements? Here are 3 working methods to
install Windows 11 on older hardware.
Preparation
Before starting:
- Backup your data (external drive or cloud)
- Download Windows 11 ISO (official
Microsoft site)
- Prepare USB flash drive (8GB+) for bootable media
Method 1: Bypass TPM/Secure Boot (USB Installation)
Step 1: Create Bootable USB
- Download Rufus
- Select
Windows 11 ISO
- Under
"Image options":
- Enable "Extended
Windows 11 installation"
- Check "Disable
TPM/Secure Boot checks"
- Click
"Start" and wait
Step 2: Install Windows 11
- Restart
PC and enter BIOS/UEFI (F2/DEL/ESC key)
- Disable:
- Secure
Boot
- TPM
Check
- Boot
from USB and install normally
Method 2: Registry Edit (For Windows 10 Upgrades)
Step 1: Open Registry Editor
- Press Win
+ R, type regedit
- Navigate
to:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup
Step 2: Create Bypass Keys
- Right-click
→ New → DWORD (32-bit)
- Add
two values:
- AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU = 1
- BypassTPMCheck = 1
- Reboot
your PC
Step 3: Start Upgrade
- Go
to Settings → Update & Security
- Use Media
Creation Tool if upgrade isn't offered
- Installation
will begin without compatibility checks
Method 3: Modified ISO (For Very Old PCs)
Step 1: Extract ISO
- Use UltraISO or PowerISO
- Extract
files to folder (e.g., C:\Win11)
Step 2: Modify Installer
- Delete/rename appraiserres.dll in sources folder
→ This disables compatibility checks - Rebuild
ISO using UltraISO
Step 3: Install
- Create
bootable USB with modified ISO
- Install
Windows 11
Important Notes
- Some
features won't work (e.g., Windows Hello without TPM)
- No
update guarantees (Microsoft may block such systems)
- Possible
errors on very old CPUs (pre-2015)
Alternative: Windows 10 + Windows 11 Theme
If methods fail:
- Keep Windows
10 (supported until 2025)
- Install classic
Start menu (e.g., via StartAllBack)
- Apply Windows
11 wallpapers/themes
Conclusion
You can install Windows 11 on old PCs, but:
- Best
method → Rufus with checks disabled
- Without
TPM/Secure Boot → some features missing
- Last resort → Windows 10 with visual tweaks
